It is with deep sorrow we inform you of the passing of our resident bobcat, Hoover. Hoover was put to rest June 27 after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer.
Hoover came to Critter Care in 2000 at 8 weeks old. A woman had been keeping her as a pet for 6 weeks and Hoover arrived underweight and malnourished. She was at death’s door, but with round the clock care provided by our executive director, Gail Martin, Hoover pulled through. Despite all of our efforts to rehabilitate Hoover and return her to the wild, Hoover had other plans. She never went wild and was the happiest when around her human caregivers.
For the next 13 years Hoover lived here at Critter Care and served as our Ambassador. She touched the lives of countless volunteers, interns, staff, and visitors.
Hoover you are deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
