Andre
is a six week old cougar kit that was found
walking down a road in Squamish by a couple with
no signs of his mom being around. They took him
home and called the Conservation Office.
The Conservation Officer brought him to Critter
Care after hours via the Langley Emergency
Clinic. Andre was admitted to Critter Care on
July 16th weighing in at a whopping 4.6 lbs. and
as of the writing of this story he is weighing
in at 11 lbs.
At this point in time the government does not
allow the rehabbing of cougars so the options
for Andre are very limited. The good news is
that Gail Martin has found him a home at a Cat
Refuge in Minnesota and both Critter Care and
the Cat Refuge are currently working to receive
the required permits and documents to send him
to his new home.
He’s one special little guy who will grow up to
be a happy and handsome man.
MEET NILES
Niles
is a three month old raccoon that was
transferred to Critter Care on July 23rd from
Salt Spring Island. What’s so special about
Niles you ask? He’s just a raccoon.
Well what is special about Niles or maybe we
should say unique is his coloring. We call him
Blondie for short which basically points to his
uniqueness. His fur and paws are very light. If
you look at one of his room mates you can easily
spot the difference. He’s definitely not albino
but certainly has unique coloring. We have never
had one with his coloring.
