My Time at Critter Care
Alright, so I have to sum up my time at critter care into a few words. Well I think I’d start with fantastic, exhausting, and inspiring. Yeah, those seem like great words to use. It all started 10 minutes after I arrived at critter care. The lovely Melissa Allen (supervisor) approached me and asked if I would like to work with the otters. I was a little stunned but very excited, I had never expected such an opportunity. I had seven otters, 4 were older and 3 were a few weeks younger. Lucky for me I had two great interns to show me the (fishy) splendours of caring for otters. I got to experience and learn many things about them, like did you know otters don’t naturally know how to swim and have to be taught? I had no idea until it was I who had to teach them.

Andrew Cromb – Australia
Critter Care offers the most hands on wildlife experience I’ve ever had. You work directly with a vast variety of North American wildlife in all stages of development from juveniles that require round the clock bottle feeding to fiercely independent adults whose natural instincts are to try and stay far away from humans.

Sophie Ding - Paris, France
After I heard about this internship in Canada, I knew that I needed to experience this awesome adventure with animals. What I didn't know is that I'd learn much more than I could ever think about. Being an intern at Critter Care Wildlife Society is way more than taking care of injured or orphaned animals, it's also about learning how to rule your life and be responsible for a creature and the center you are working for. After this experience, I've discovered a new part of my personality that I probably would have never learned back home. Also, my English improved very quickly because everyone need to speak English here, no matter where people came from.

Becky McConnell - Liverpool, England
At home for me, my job is less than exciting and everyday is the same. I have always loved animals and whilst studying Biology at university quickly realised I would love a job involving environmental conservation, but in which area? I had no idea. So whilst looking for conservation internships my friend Clare suggested Critter Care, it sounded great and the idea of moving to Canada for 4 months was so exciting. When I got accepted even though I had looked through the website I had no idea I would be gaining so much hands on experience.
