Angela Fontana, South Carolina - 2006 Testimonial
When I came to Critter Care I though I knew what to expect, but I didn’t expect to fall in love with this place as much as I did. Sure it is a lot of work with many long days and long nights. In the end, however, it is all worth it. Never did I dream that at nineteen years old I would raise baby Raccoons and work with four black bear cubs.
At Critter Care I learned so much about the animals, and also a bit about myself. To have a baby Raccoon think of you as its mom, to creak behind you as you walk, climb on you, and to cuddle with you is the most amazing feeling in the world, one that I could not possibly put into words. Losing a Raccoon due to reasons beyond your control is also something hard to deal with. Having the Raccoons littermates mourn with you though is amazing, sad, and comforting all at the same time. To all my Raccoons: the three that I lost: Princess, Gemini, and Rain, and to my other nine Orphi, David, Alexa, Sydney, Frosty, Mika, Cane, Tyson and Griff I was the best mom to you that I could be, and the only human that you ever knew as mom. Because of that I know that you will live the wild lives you are meant to live. Be wild and be free, but you will always have a special place with me in my heart.
As for the four black bear cubs, I can only thank Gail for trusting me to care for them. I will never forget the experience to be so close to such a magnificent animal, and to watch the four of them play together and forage for food that myself and another had hid for them.
When all is said and done I will never forget this little Rehab center out in Langley known as Critter Care. With practically my whole life ahead of me I can honestly say Critter Care has given me wonderful experiences that can only help me in the future.
